Some of these images were made around Anchorage from a mountain outside of town called "Flatop" where on a clear day you can see Denali from 143 miles away. We were not that lucky and found out from many locals that it is a rare sighting, but still the view from up there is breathtaking of the surrounding mountains and the city from afar. The images of the Eagles were made from mostly on the Homer Spit where they were feasting on Halibut carcases and the young ones were trying to swope in for a morsel when the adults weren't looking. The females always eat first with the males standing guard, so that the fledeglings with get fed. When the females fly away to feed the babies, then the males will eat. The other images were made on an excursion Justin and I made across Katchemak Bay to Halibut Cove, which is a bucolic village only accessable by boat consisting of fishermen, a few bed and breakfasts, two restruaunts, some residents and beautiful walkway that leads to a trail to a isolated beach, which of course we were not going to miss. A wonderful day excusrsion with my Son,
