There have been some really good South Swells so far this Summer, with a few powerful North ones too! When there is a strong South in the water, my go to spot lately has been Cabali's. This particular spot loves a South with low tide, so the day I set out it looked like it might be just right, however the wind charts looked a bit sketchy. So I left and headed out to see what this lava reef was serving up. When I got there, the wind in fact was sorta a bad angle, it was blowing side shore into the tubes and flattening out the waves a bit however, there were still some nice tube sections reeling through. I love Cabali's for its isolation, great reef, and really good waves, most of the time. There were sizable sets, with some big sneaker South sets bombing through now and then. My friend Ricky showed up about into my second hour, and proceeded to paddle right out and drop into the biggest and hollowest one's that were exploding across the reef. Rick knows this spot like the back of his bar of wax. He basically cut his teeth and feet, here about 30 years ago! At the peak of the crowd, I counted six heads sitting out there, and at one point Rick was surfing by himself! I am usually the only person on the beach, minus the occasional German or Japanees tourist that like the long hike along this section of the coast. All in all, a great session was had by surfers and photographer alike! Remember my motto; "Stay Stoked and Stay Forever Young." ..... Da Lieb
