Aloha All, and to all a Happy Thanksgiving,
For the last four or five years I have been scoring every Thanksgiving morning with really good conditions at Abalone Reef, today was a little different. Checking the waves from the "lookout" they appeared to be in the 8-10' range, so I didn't take too long to park, and then make the twenty minute hike out to the Point. Along the walk in, I could see some large waves roaring across the point. When I finally posted up out at the end of the beach, much to my surprise, the wave were a bit larger than they looked from the lookout! They were really big! Usually when its in the smaller range, it will also be a great left, but when its this big, its usually a down the line right hander, maybe comparable to Rincon. Out this morning the Surfers included, Dan and Keith Malloy, Davey Johnson, Nate Winkles, Dustin Smith, Tony Romosanta, Dave Haws and Buff and Bailey Platt. Catch the biggest bombs and getting the longest rides was Chad Konig. Chad brought a bigger board and it was a good choice on his part for ease of catching and making these huge critters!
