Yesterday I went out to a place that I call "The Ranch." It is one of my favorite places to go hiking at, as it is only about eight miles from my home and it offers a very hilly, challenging and beautiful escape. There are about fifteen miles of trails here, and I am pretty sure, at this point I have hiked them all more than a few times. Yesterday the hills were very green, and being Easter Sunday, there were few people out there. I only encountered about three or four other hikers in four and a half miles. The fresh air, the sounds of all the birds, the scruffling of animals in the brush, the wind with its many different voices and the hills speaking to me, all made for a wonderful and peaceful trek.
