1. Daily Session

July 18th. 2016

This past Saturday Amy called me up and told me about a really cool car show, and that she thought we should go, so we did! It was called "Woodies at the Beach." Very cool car show, mostly all wood sided vehicles. There were woodies of every kind I have ever seen, including a Rolls Royce! Another thing that I really enjoyed was this culture of the owners. Thery mostly were Surfers, or retired Surfers, and a lot of them looked like me! Felt so comfortable chatting with all the Baby Boomers, that own these wonderful slices of our childhoods. My first memory of a Woody was around 1955 when my Mom drove a Plymouth one with metal wood sides! Was long before I surfed, but I still remember it vividly. My second recollection was when we moved into Encino in 1957,and a few years later I noticed this older guy down the street drove one with big Webber decals all over it. I tried many times to get him to take me to the beach with him, but he never did! I guess he couldn't be bothered with a stoked up grom, he was a pro surfer and probably surfed conditions that I couldn't even paddle out in? That Surfer was Bob "Porkchops" Barron. Anyways, still remember that quite well! The woodies at this car show were really cool to photograph, and I will absolutely make this a annual stop for me. Always remember my motto: "Stay Stoked and Stay Forever Young." .... Da Lieb
