This session was shot at a niche in the coast that is steeped in Chumash tradition. The Chumash used to come to this special place to make arrow points because of the indigenous rock that runs through the Earth around here. Also it was an excellent place to hunt for Mountain Lion, Coyote, Fox, Rabbit and many varieties of birds. With the Ocean in very close proximity, it must of been a top notch place for fishing and whale hunting as well.
This particular and special day, I could feel those Chumash spirits every where along the five mile hike in. The boys were the hunters today, their arrows were their foam and fiberglass weapons with which they sought to slay some very hollow waves. And slay they did! It was one of those special days, when almost every wave is a hideous gaping tube, some wide open, others slamming the door shut, just as you saw the light at the end of the opening!
The warriors today were: Kilian Garland, the Robbins twins; Brett and Cole, Eathan Marquez, Matt Maheri, Andrew Soong and Shaun Ortanista. I beleive everyone, myself included got our fill of grinding barrels
